Prudential Monitoring
Transparency and commercial safety in the energy market, tracking each agent's Leverage Factor.
What is Prudential Monitoring
Prudential monitoring aims to strengthen the commercial and financial safety of power market operations by sending relevant information to the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE).
To help agents get familiar with this new process, a transition period (Shadow Period) was established for 12 months starting November 1st, 2023, by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) through Normative Resolution No. 1,072/2023. This allows market participants to adapt and identify possible issues before the permanent implementation of the new rules.
Leverage Factor
The Leverage Factor is the measure used to assess each agent's leverage level, showing the potential risk relative to their financial capacity.
In simple terms, the closer to 0, the lower the risk the agent takes on relative to their financial result.
It is worth noting that the shadow period will serve as a benchmark for the information provided by agents. Only after this period will the concept of a good score for this Factor become clearer.
